A guide to perfect pie crusts

There are some great tips out there for the perfect pie dough and I encourage you to have a google and use the tips that produce the best results for you.

Here are just a few to get you started and for you home baker's out there none of this will likely come as a surprise to you.

  1. Nothing adds a rich flavor like butter, try an all butter recipe that wont disappoint!

  2. Shortening and lard have higher melting points so will provide a flakier crust, try combining butter and shortening/lard

  3. To prevent meltage chill your bowl as well as your flour

  4. If you noticed some melting going on, simply pop it back in the fridge for a few minutes to firm it up.

  5. For flaky fruit pie crusts use walnut sized pieces of butter, you'll love the result!

Once again, these are just a handful of simple tricks to help you create to best possible pie. There are many more tricks to find if you're willing to take the time to find them.
